Police are seeking for assistance in locating a suspect that has gone into hiding after fatally shooting a 71-year-old woman in Makhenkesi Township, Mqanduli. The incident is reported to have occurred on 17 January, between 19:00 and 20:00.
According to the police, the suspect entered the house and went to the victim’s bedroom, where he fatally shot her in the upper body. At the time of the incident, the elderly woman was with her 12-year-old granddaughter, who was not harmed during the shooting.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage, and police have opened a murder case for investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information that may lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspect or suspects to contact the Mqanduli SAPS Detective Head, Lieutenant Colonel Ngqeleni, on 083 984 4226.
