An 8 year old girl from KwaNkau location in Matatiele is recovering in hospital after she was allegedly raped by an unknown man near her home while her grand mother was stabbed a week ago. According to ward councillor of ward 12 Cllr Masello Ntsane the 8 year old was asleep with her grand mother when the culprit gained entry to the room by forcing himself through the window.
Cllr Ntsane said, grand mother who was also fast asleep was woken up by young girl screaming for help. When the grand mother tried to find out what was happening, she was stabbed five times by the same person and fell down.
“Whilest she was down she could see the men pushing the young girl out of the window. He also got out through the same window. Granny crawled to the neighbours homestead to ask for help. While the neighbours were trying to help the grand mother, a young girl could be heard crying at a distance moving towards her home. The neighbours ran towards her and they found her when she was about to enter her home’s gate. She was oozing blood from her private parts down her legs”, said Cllr Ntsane.
Police and ambulance were called and both grand mother and the 8 year old were taken to Tayler Bequest hospital. Five stab wounds were found on grand mother’s upper body and head. She was treated and discharged back to her home.
The young girl was transferred to Nelson Mandela hospital because of the extent of her injuries. The 8 year old knew the culprit but according to Cllr Ntsane the men has not been arrested.
Meanwhile a 30 year old man who has been arrested by Maluti police on Sunday after he has allegedly killed his wife at Khoapa location is appearing at Maluti magistrate court on Tuesday. The is reported to have strangled his wife and used a cricket bat to kill her.
On the other hand a 30 year old girl is going to appear before the same court for allegedly killing her boyfriend last week end. Neighbours at Lukholweni are saying that the girlfriend has always been abusive to the boyfriend. It is said that the main source of their quarrel was money. The boy friend was receiving Sassa grant and the girl friend would demand the money to an extent of beating the boyfriend. He was found dead with head injuries in a room where they use to sleep. Although she was the last to be seen with him, she was not in the room when the body was discovered”, the reports said.
