South African actress Phindile Gwala has opened up about a frightening health scare that recently landed her in hospital.
Gwala revealed that she was admitted after experiencing severe symptoms, including nonstop vomiting and difficulty speaking. During the ordeal, her daughter had to assist her with daily tasks — a moment the actress said she will never forget.
According to Gwala, doctors diagnosed her with a highly contagious new virus, which she described as having symptoms similar to COVID-19 and leaving her extremely weak.
The actress documented parts of her recovery in a vlog filmed during her hospital stay, where she gradually showed signs of improvement and a better mood.
Gwala has since been discharged and is recovering at home. She expressed deep gratitude to her family and support system for standing by her during what she described as a traumatic experience.
