The Buffalo City Metropolitan Geographical Names Committee (BCMGNC) is consulting stakeholders on proposed name changes for roads, interchanges, and other landmarks in the municipality.
Consultations have already been held in eQonce and Mdantsane, with sessions continuing today at Gompo Hall and tomorrow at City Hall.
Key proposals include renaming:
Breidbarch N2 Interchange to Inkosi Mabhece Tshatshu Interchange
Gompo Township to Clement Kadalie Residence
Grey and Maitland Road to Steve Tshwete Road
Bulembu Airport to Chief Dyani Tshatshu Airport
Settler’s Way Road to Steve Biko Drive
The committee says the changes aim to honour notable figures and reflect local heritage, and encourages public participation during the consultation process.
