A mother of (49) Boniswa Nyembezi who stays at Harry Gwala no 2024 ( Area C) has been for several times kept waiting from being issued with a birth certificate for her baby Kwanele Nogemane (8). She has never been updated with a valid reason for being kept waiting for so long Boniswa has been placed on hold since from 2011 of which that is something very unusual and or unprecedented, she was in pains as she explained how the departmental officials responded to her. “We will call you” thus the response always from Matatilele Department Home Affairs. Even now in 2018 she is still waiting for the call. At one stage they showed her a huge bunch of papers or documents. “That I should look for my documents and after sometime, I saw them but that has not yielded any positive effects” says Miss Nyembezi. It remains the policy of the department of education to produce a birth certificate for a child registration however with this child he was registered hoping that such documents will soon follow. I even asked for assistance from Social Development staff member wherein I narrated my story as it is, she thereupon accompanied me back to Home Affairs offices, I addressed my story in her presence but still the response was the same.” Says Boniswa Nyembezi
This situation is very bad for her as this issue restricts opportunity from receiving a grant for her child (Kwanele). And no one is working at home this grant would make a big difference. The government should hire more people to work at home affairs as two people find it hard to provide services. Home Affairs Department could not be found to respond on this issue till we go for print.
