This weekend an unbelievable story of a woman who died after being eaten by a cow at one village from Qumbu in the Eastern Cape is trending on Social Media. EC Indaba broke the news yesterday also followed by Ikamva News EC this morning.
According to these online news platforms Zininzi Mthethandaba who was a teacher at Ncothi Senior Secondary died while on her way to school last week. The family is still shocked as the teacher woke up early saying she is going to school, but schools are closed before coming to this tragedy.
Family spokesperson Litha Ludidi said they can’t believe this as they have never heard or seen a cow eating a human being to death. EC Indaba reports that the cow began by attacking Zininzi using its horns till she fell down on the ground. After she was on the ground that when it started eating her tearing her body into pieces.
The Informer spoke to SAPS Provincial spokesperson Captain Khaya Thonjeni who did not want to deny or confirm the incident. “I saw this on Social Media and I thought it’s just fake news. Even if it has happened a case cannot be opened”, Captain Thonjeni said.
Ward Cllr at Mhlontlo Local Municipality Loyiso Yalezo said the municipality is aware of the incident and said the deceased was buried yesterday. He described the reports as scary where it is said the cow ate the teacher as if it uses incisors. The cow is reported to have been killed by community members. People are still shocked.
