KWABACA POLICE RAMP UP SEARCH FOR MISSING GIRL, 23, BUT CONCERNS RISE AS DOEK AND A VEST ARE FOUND NEAR THE RIVER

 

Police at KwaBaca in the Province of the Eastern Cape have this evening called off the search of 23 year old  Lindokuhle Thala who disappeared on Christmas day. Although police ramped up the search on Monday morning with K9 Dog Unit, Divers and the community but they have failed to come up with positive results.

Provincial Police Spokesperson Brigadier Kinana said Thala  was last seen by her Sister on Saturday Christmas day when they were returning from a funeral in Tabankulu. On the way she decided to take a taxi to visit her child at Tyeni Location in KwaBaca. Kinana said Thala was communicating with her child’s aunts before crossing the river to Tyeni.  According to the child’s aunt communication between Thala and themselves ended 30 minutes before arriving near Umzimvubu River  where she was going to cross before meeting them. They called her on the phone but all of a sadden the phone was off.

Colonel Mhlamanzana of the KwaBaca Police said police and the community have found a doek and a vest  as they were searching near the Umzimvubu River.

“ We have decided to stop searching for today. We are going to start our search tomorrow morning but we are going to need a chopper as the area is mountainous with bushes and cliffs. Although we cannot link the two items that we have found to Thala but they are causing a very big concern as they strengthen suspicions that she has been drowned in the river”, said Colonel Mhlamanzana.

She said the police are continuing their appeal  to the public to come forward if they have seen Thala.
