Convicted Facebook rapist, Thabo Bester receives ID book

Home affairs official visited the Kgosi Mampuru correctional centre to hand over the South African ID to controversial convicted rapist Thabo Bester.
The publication adds that a home affairs official visited the Kgosi Mampuru correctional centre last week, to hand over the South African ID to Thabo Bester.
Home Affairs minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi told parliament this week that the police conducted a DNA test on Bester and “that woman” claiming to be his mother and the results came back 99% positive. The Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital also confirmed that Bester was born at the hospital health in 1986.
Motsoaledi said this week that Bester was registered through the “late registration of birth” process, which suggests he might have never had a birth certificate or ID card/green book before.
“We told you that Thabo Bester was identified because of the mother that gave birth to him in Chris Hani Baragwanath in 1986.”
“The process of late registration of birth is to get documents from hospitals where you were born, from crèches, Sunday schools and all over, and we give that document to a special tribunal at home affairs, which decides on the basis of such a document whether they give you a birth certificate and register your birth late.”
“DNA testing of Bester’s mother confirmed that he was indeed a native South African citizen who was born at the Chris Hani Baragwanath in Soweto,” adds the publication.
Bester had up to 13 aliases which he used to lure young women and run a scam while serving a life sentence at Mangaung Correctional Centre.
His aliases included; Thomas Bester, Tom Bester, Tom Motsepe, Thabo Tom Bester, Tom Kelly, Thomas Kelly Bester, Thomas Berter, TK Nkwana, Robert, Thomas Kelly Young, Tommy William Kelly, Thomas Magagula, Thabo Magagula and Rufus Mahopo.
Kelly: At the time of his arrest, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi revealed Bester was using an American passport with the name “Tommy William Kelly” when he got arrested in Tanzania.
