Community demand speed humps after speeding cars kill 6 people

A grand mother of five year old girl at Polile Location in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape Province is still distraught and unable to sleep after seeing her granddaughter knocked down by a speeding car a week ago. Makheswa Gaga 62 was with Khethokuhle Buso 5 when the accident happened on R56 when a speeding vehicle hit her throwing her body parts all over the road. “What I saw was unbelievable. I am unable to sleep even now. I always see those body parts of my grand daughter scattered all over the road”, she said.

On the other hand Khethokuhle’s  death has also angered the community of this area and have made them to call on government to build speed humps in this road. Headman of the area Nkosinathi Gomba told The Informer that this is the sixth person to die in this manner in area. He said the problem is the speeding cars that are passing on the road. The last victim dies when we have been talking to government to build the speed humps but to no avail. “We are sick and tired now, that is why we decided to build the humps on our own.

By the time of the interview more than 50 men from the location were busy building the humps and it was difficult for car drivers to pass. Mother of the child Nandipha Gaga said it was painful to lose Khethukuhle in that way. “She was a bubbly girl who was doing grade R at school.
