Quick Police work leads to arrest of four suspects in teacher murder case
On February 20, 2024, in the OR Tambo District, the Task Team in collaboration with K9 units and Flying Squad officials, successfully apprehended four individuals implicated in the killing of Baleka Ntutuka, a 52-year-old female educator. On Monday, February 19, she was tragically discovered with fatal neck stab wounds at her residence in the Ziphunzana area of Libode.
Authorities state that following the murder, which occurred around 4:30 PM, the accused absconded with the victim’s car and the aluminum windows of her home. The stolen vehicle was located through its tracking system in the Canzibe district within Ngqeleni’s jurisdiction, leading to the prompt capture of the first suspect.
The subsequent arrests of the three additional accomplices occurred in the early morning hours of February 20, in the regions of Mthatha Mandela Park and Qumbu. Investigators recovered Ntutuka’s mobile phone and the filched aluminum windows. Reports suggest the suspects were contracted for renovations at Ntutuka’s residence.
