STATE DESCRIBES MATSIDISO LECHAMOCHAMO AS HEARTLESS, CRUEL AND DANGEROUS

State prosecutor in Matatiele, Athini Tantsi has described murder accused Matsidiso Lechamochamo as heartless, cruel and dangerous.  Tantsi was convincing the court on why Lechamochamo must not be granted bail. Lechamochamo was in court on Tuesday to listen to his defence lawyer Sivuyile Dlangamandla and the prosecutor Tantsi giving closing arguments on whether the court should grant or not grant bail to the applicant.

Lechamochamo is accused of kidnapping and murdering 22 year old Sibongile Sihlwayi after running away with 100 pills of drugs. Tantsi gave a gruesome picture of how Sihlwayi  was tortured and beaten before was  killed after he was found from his hiding place. She said dangerous weapons Like hammer, sticks and bush knives were used to kill Sihlwayi. “There were times where a blade of a bush knife would be burnt on the stove until its red and then will be used to beat Sihlwayi on his back. After his death Lechamochamo then took Sihlwayi’s body, loaded it on her bakkie and drove 66 KM to throw the body.  That’s how  heartless and dangerous she is. We are still asking ourselves if how many people have been killed like this by Lechamochamo”, said Tantsi.

Commenting about the issue of Lechamochamo being dangerous, Tantsi said the accused was trigger happy. She counted about two different incidents where she used her gun to shoot at people. “When the community visited her and when the police were at her home to effect her arrest. She can use the gun to kill the witnesses.

It was also said that Lechamochamo is a flight risk. According Tantsi police are still looking for her step daughter, an accomplice in the case , who is still at large. This therefore means Lechamochamo cannot be granted bail.

Tantsi was responding to a defence lawyer, Sivuyile Dlangamandla who said lechamochamo has got a stable family at Maluti. She is also running a business in the areas. Then it is guaranteed that she is going to attend her case until its complete.

The magistrate decided to postpone the case to the 24th of May so that she can present a decision.
