David Warner is set to appear in court on 7 May after being charged with drink-driving in Sydney, with Cricket New South Wales confirming the player understands the seriousness of the matter.
The 39-year-old, who captains the Sydney Thunder, was allegedly found to be more than twice over the legal alcohol limit during a random breath test over the weekend.
Cricket NSW said it remains committed to promoting road safety and will support Warner through the legal process, while reinforcing responsible behaviour. Chief executive Lee Germon emphasised that the organisation takes such incidents seriously.
Reports suggest Warner told police he had consumed three glasses of wine before attempting to drive home.
The former international, who retired in 2024, is expected to return to Pakistan to continue his campaign in the Pakistan Super League, where he captains the Karachi Kings.
