DEATILS AS PROMISED: Girl 18 in court for raping another female
A case of an 18 year old girl who appeared at the Maluti regional Court in Matatiele accused of allegedly raping another girl was remanded for the 26th of June 2025.
Reason for the postponement was the non availability of the prosecutor who is prosecuting the case. According to reports the incident happened 2023 in an area called New Jay in Matatiele.
Reports said, the suspect and the survivor were friends and they were even sitting in one desk at school. The suspect’s mother, who is the ward councillor at Matatiele Local Municipality made an arrangement with the mother of the survivor for her daughter to spend a week staying at complainant’s home as she was on a week long work related trip.
It is said that by that time both the accused and the complainant were 16 years of age. It was on a third day that the suspect allegedly raped the complainant. On the 8th of April when the country’s citizens were showing outrage marching in the streets demanding Cwecwe’s justice, the two were in court giving evidence of what has happened.
The court heard that on the night in question the suspect left her bed and joined the survivor on her bed. The accused demanded a kiss from the complainant. After refusing with the kiss, the suspect showed the complainant a video of two girls who were making sex on the phone. She then forcefully inserted her fingers in the complainant’s vagina until she bled. “Because of the suspect’s power and shock I was unable to cry. I was bleeding to an extent that the blood speeld all over the bed sheet”, said complainant to the court. She said the suspect forced her to remove the bed sheet from the bed and put in a washing machine so that the helper can wash it the following day.
“I did not know how to tell to my parents or anybody but the suspect told her friends at school that she did this to me. She even sent a video of two girls with one inserting fingers to the other one ‘s vigina to her friends at school telling them that, that is what she did to me”, the complainant’s evidence said.
After the suspect told the friends the complainant had no choice but to tell the parents and they opened the case. The girl was taken to Thuthuzela at Taylor Bequest hospital where the doctor confirmed that there was an insertion and the complainant was bruised.
The two girls have been giving evidence in court about this in camera as they were underage. It was only on the 8th of April when they were able to come to the public court as they were 18 years of age. On the 26th of June it is expected that a doctor will be giving evidence on the matter.
