A 33-year-old woman from Port Saint Johns, Yolanda Makhunga, who is currently residing in Springs, Gauteng is suffering from an umbilical hernia and is appealing to any good Samaritan to provide help, as her situation is deteriorating. The mother of two is paralysed because she cannot perform any basic duties. This is after an operation she underwent at the East Rand Hospital in March this year.
Due to her incapabilities to look after her two children, her husband Edwin Munyonyongi, a truck driver was compelled to resign from work to look after her and the children.
The poverty-stricken family found themselves in much-anticipated famine, coercing the husband to again search for a job in this country where the unemployment rate is at its peak, with just over 7 million people unemployed, making it the country leading in the world.
Three months back into the trucking industry, Munyonyongi’s lucky stars slipped through, when he was fatally shot in an attempted robbery on his way to Mozambique,he died on the scene.
With pain written on her face, Makhunga said it feels like life is playing pranks on her”
Ï really don’t know what is happening in my life, as we speak now I am on my way to bury him in Zimbabwe. Monies paid out for the funeral preparations took a toll on me. I am still in so much pain. The only person I trusted to be with me in this difficult period of my life is now gone…
I am left with children who are solely dependent on me at a time where I cannot even perform basic chores around the house,” said estranged Makhunga.
Makhunga’s path to this unpleasent life started in March this year when she visited the East Rand Hospital.
According to her she visisted the hospital after she felt stomach pains “I arrived in the hospital on Friday but I was only attended the following day because there were no doctors. I was given medication to use and was sent back home…
“However, I went back to the hospital again after a couple of days because the stomach pains were getting worse. A decision to perform a surgery initiated.”
The suffering mother was discharged after five days. Despite doctors performing the operation, she has now developed a growth in her stomach that has crippled her normal life.
The distraught mother is pleading for any good samaritan to her rescue medically.
