Eastern Cape major roads claim five lives

Cases of culpable homicide had been opened for further investigations; this is after three people lost their lives in 2 separate accidents. The accidents happened on the popular provincial major roads, the R58 Lady Grey towards Aliwal North and N2 road at Kei Cuttings towards Butterworth.

On the R58 road Lady Grey at Sterkspruit Junction towards Aliwal North two vehicles collided head-on.

A Toyota Avanza with 5 occupants from Sterkspruit and VW Polo Hatchback with two males occupants from Lady Grey collided head-on. Two from Toyota Avanza died on the scene (male driver 35 yrs old and an infant – boy 3 months) On the N2 road Butterworth at Nciba towards East London an articulate truck collided with a sedan at about 07H45. The driver of the sedan died on the scene. The two occupants of the truck escaped unharmed.
