Education Empowerment Soars in Ngalonkulu as Officials and Donors Unite for Computer Lab and Infrastructure Handover
The Member of the Department of Education (DoE), Fundile Gade, and the Mayor of the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM), Cllr Daniswa Mafumbatha, joined forces on Friday to officially hand over a state-of-the-art Computer Laboratory & Infrastructure generously donated by Jenn Training & Consultancy to Ngalonkulu SS in Ward 14.
Under the watchful eye of Her Worship, Cllr Mafumbatha, gratitude flowed as she commended MEC for Education, Gade, and Babalo Madikizela for this remarkable project set to elevate the education of Ngalonkulu SS learners. During the momentous handover ceremony, Madikizela not only called on teachers and students to cherish this valuable infrastructure but also pledged to donate R150,000 by the end of November to Ngalonkulu SS Top Achievers as part of his commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in rural areas. Furthermore, he extended his offer to replicate this project in other schools across Mbizana.
MEC Gade, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by impoverished families, especially concerning education, expressed his motivation for the initiative. In his opening statement, he said, “I know the hardships that families in poverty endure, especially when it comes to matters related to education.” In addition to the Computer Laboratory & Infrastructure, he announced a donation of 50 pairs of school shoes, 50 pairs of school bags for less privileged learners, and 10 blankets for the elderly residents of the ward. The MEC further committed to contributing R60,000 towards the 2023 Ngalonkulu Matric Camp.
Chief Gcinisizwe concluded the event with words of appreciation, extending her gratitude to the MEC for Education, Mayor, Cllr. Mafumbatha, Madikizela, and Jenn Training & Consultancy for this remarkable initiative. She also emphasized the importance of celebrating the positive impact of this project and encouraged the community to rejoice in the opportunities it brings to the deserving beneficiaries.
