EFF supporters backs Malema ahead of sentencing

The East London Magistrate’s Court is expected to hand down judgment against Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema.

In October last year, Malema was found guilty of violating gun laws following a 2018 rally, where video footage depicted him firing shots in the air.

Malema and co-accused Adriaan Snyman faced charges relating to the contravention of the Firearms Control Act.

The matter was brought to the courts by lobby group AfriForum.

Malema faces up to 15 years in prison if the court finds him guilty.
