The sentencing of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema is expected to be delivered today at the East London Magistrate’s Court, where scores of supporters have gathered in anticipation.
The case was postponed to today after the defence concluded its sentencing submissions yesterday. Malema was found guilty in October 2025 on charges including the unlawful discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and reckless endangerment linked to a 2018 rally in Mdantsane.
Outside court, EFF supporters dressed in party colours sang and chanted as they showed solidarity, while a heavy police presence monitored the situation.
Tension continues to build as supporters await a decision that could have significant political implications.
