Mnyamezeli under Mnya Production released a movie called Usizi that is making waves on YouTube. The film depicts a gap between the rich and poor and how old women with dementia are accused of witchcraft in the villages.
Speaking to the Informer, Mnyamezeli said the success of the movie to him would be to see the film reach millions of people across the globe.
According to the filmmaker, what transpired him to write the movie was after witnessing women being brutally killed for allegedly using black magic.
“In most cases, the women who are accused of witchcraft are only poor women. It is very rare to see a rich woman being attacked or accused of witchcraft. By writing and producing Usizi I am trying to show poor women are victims of this not that they are real witches but because they are poor and vulnerable and that needs to be stopped,” concluded Madolo. The film is expected to be launched in February next year
