The South African Police Service, in collaboration with Airports Company South Africa, has arrested five South African women for drug trafficking at OR Tambo International Airport.
Police said the suspects were found in possession of drugs valued at more than R5 million, concealed on their bodies. The arrests were made on Saturday as the women were preparing to travel to China via Dubai.
“A search led to the discovery of drugs concealed inside their sneakers, underwear and private parts,” police said in a statement.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, facing charges related to drug trafficking.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
