Former IPID head Robert McBride set to face Ad Hoc Committee
The Former Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) head Robert McBride is expected to testify today before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee probing allegations of criminal infiltration, political interference and corruption in South Africa’s criminal justice system.
His appearance comes former former Acting National Commissioner Phahlane told Parliament’s ad hoc committee that a coordinated “project”, allegedly led by former IPID head Robert McBride and forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan, was aimed at destroying his reputation, career and personal life.
Paul O’Sullivan told the committee he does not want to appear physically because he fears for his life. However, the committee has subpoenaed O’Sullivan to appear in person.
