Former Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba back in court

The former Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba is expected to appear today in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s.

Gigaba is accused of fraud and corruption in connection to the irregular procurement of locomotives between 2010 to 2014 which involves former Transnet executives Brian Molefe, Anoj Singh, Siyabonga Gama, and Thamsanqa Jiyane.

Transnet spent over R54 billion on locomotives, but much of that money went astray through inflated prices and unfair picks.

Gigaba is alleged to have received kickbacks from locomotive deals within Transnet, leading to huge losses for the state-owned company.

Gigaba will appear for the disclosure of the docket and a date for the transfer to a high court.
