Saphukanduku Youth proudly celebrates a major milestone following the successful launch of its newly established Non-Profit Organisation, Ikusasalethu NPO. On 27 February 2026, the organisation made history by handing over full school uniforms to 94 Grade 10 learners at Saphukanduku High School — marking its first official community support initiative.
This impactful gesture represents more than just the provision of uniforms. For many families facing socio-economic challenges, the cost of school uniforms can be a significant burden. By stepping in to provide full uniforms, Ikusasalethu NPO has not only eased financial pressure on households but has also restored dignity, strengthened learners’ self-esteem, and created a renewed sense of belonging among the beneficiaries.
Research consistently shows that when learners feel confident and adequately equipped for school, their attendance, participation, and academic performance improve. Through this initiative, Ikusasalethu is directly contributing to improved educational outcomes and helping to create an environment where young people can focus on their studies without unnecessary obstacles.
The initiative aligns with the organisation’s vision of “Empowered youth transforming communities” and its mission to equip and inspire young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to become future leaders and positive change-makers.
Established in 2025 by Saphukanduku Youth, Ikusasalethu NPO was founded as part of a broader commitment to giving back to the community and addressing the pressing socio-economic challenges faced by young people. The organisation remains dedicated to implementing sustainable youth development programmes that create long-term impact, foster resilience, and unlock the full potential of the next generation.
As Ikusasalethu NPO begins this promising journey, this historic uniform handover stands as a powerful statement: when communities invest in their youth, they invest in a brighter and more hopeful future for all.
