Inter Miami star Lionel Messi narrowly avoided injury after a chaotic pitch invasion during a friendly against Independiente del Valle.
In the 88th minute, a shirtless fan ran onto the field and grabbed Messi from behind. A security guard, trying to intervene, accidentally pulled Messi to the ground while removing the fan, leaving all three in a tangled heap. Messi quickly regained his footing, looking irritated but unhurt.
The bizarre incident followed two earlier pitch invaders who had approached Messi for photos. The friendly had originally been scheduled for 13 February but was postponed due to Messi struggling with a tight hamstring.
This encounter came just five days after Inter Miami’s MLS season opener, a 3-0 loss to LAFC, starring Son Heung-min. Despite the chaos, Messi was unharmed and remained the center of attention throughout the evening.
