Nana Skenjana, a 38-year-old entrepreneur from the Eastern Cape, is smiling after receiving a significant boost to her tourism business, SA-Globetrotters Travel, from the Office of The Premier’s Isiqalo Youth Fund.
The Isiqalo Youth Fund, a program initiated by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government to support young entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas, provided Skenjana with a Hyundai Staria 9-seater, three quad bikes, and six mountain bikes last week. The funding is part of the government’s efforts to promote economic growth, create jobs, and empower young people in the province.
The funding was handed over by Elundini local municipality Mayor Mamello Leteba and Ms. Zintle Hlobo, Chief Director at the Office of The Premier.
Skenjana says the funding will have a profound impact on her business, which has offices in KuGompo and Nqanqarhu. “The vehicle will greatly enhance our shuttle services, allowing us to provide a more efficient and comfortable experience for our clients,” she said.
The quad bikes and mountain bikes will open up new opportunities for rural tourism in the district. “We plan to use these to promote adventure tourism in our area, encouraging tourists to explore the beautiful landscapes and stay longer,” Skenjana explained. “Tourists will be able to book B&B for longer periods, and we can even offer homestay options, meaning more opportunities for local communities to benefit. The pie will be getting bigger.”
Skenjana expressed her gratitude to the Office of The Premier and the Isiqalo Youth Fund for their support. “This funding is a game-changer for us, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our business and the community,” she said.
