National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, has announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Vuyisile Ncata as the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, effective 1 April 2026.
Lt Gen Ncata brings 31 years of service to the role, having joined the police as a student constable in 1995. A native of Kwazakele in Gqeberha, he began his career at Kwanobule police station before training as a Public Order Police (POP) member and serving as a unit commander.
He spent the first decade of his career in the Eastern Cape, later moving to the Western Cape, where he was Station Commander at Langa police station in 2011 and promoted to Brigadier in 2014 at Nyanga police station. During his 18 years in the Western Cape, he focused on policing areas affected by gang violence.
In 2022, he returned to the Eastern Cape as Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner and held the position until his latest appointment. Lt Gen Ncata holds an Honours degree, a BTech, and a National Diploma in Policing.
