LUSIKISIKI: 13 AUGUST 2025 – A 55-year-old man from Sikhulu locality in the Mantusini Administrative Area has been arrested for allegedly raping his 53-year-old neighbor, who lives with a mental illness.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 12 August 2025, at approximately 00:15, when the victim, who was asleep at the time, was reportedly attacked by the suspect. A rape case was immediately opened at the Lusikisiki Police Station.
The investigation has been handed over to the Family Violence, Child Protection, Sexual Offences, and Femicide Unit (FCS) for a detailed forensic analysis to gather conclusive evidence linking the suspect to the crime.
The suspect is set to appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of rape.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, strongly condemned the incident and praised the quick arrest made by the Lusikisiki police.
“Lusikisiki police must leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice is served for all victims of abuse. Gender-based violence has no place in our communities, and perpetrators must face the full force of the law,” said Major General Modishana.
