Malcolm Marx and Nadine Roos Dominate at SA Rugby awards

Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx capped a stellar 2025 season by winning the SA Rugby Men’s Player of the Year, adding to his World Rugby Men’s 15’s Player of the Year title. Marx, who also won the award in 2017, beat finalists Pieter-Steph du Toit, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Ox Nche, and Jasper Wiese.

The Springboks also celebrated a remarkable year, with Rassie Erasmus named Coach of the Year and the team clinching Team of the Year after defending their Castle Lager Rugby Championship title, winning 11 of 13 tests.

On the women’s side, Nadine Roos retained her SA Rugby Women’s Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

SA Rugby President Mark Alexander congratulated the winners, calling 2025 “arguably the finest year in the history of South African rugby.” He added, “Yet it was not only the senior team that shone—every one of our national sides delivered and we are immensely proud of all the winners.”

FNB Chief Marketing Officer Faye Mfikwe said they were honoured to celebrate the country’s top sportsmen and women. “Rugby remains a powerful force for unity, hope and progress. We remain committed to nurturing tomorrow’s champions and celebrating the heroes who lift the spirit of our nation today,” she said.
