The helicopter, which vanished shortly after taking off at 9 am on a mission related to an investigation of a carcass discovered within the park, has been located with all four occupants alive and unharmed.
According to police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli, the group—including the pilot, two SAPS investigators, and an Environmental Crime Investigator—was found on Tuesday morning after being spotted by a SANParks search helicopter. “They had safely landed in a remote area on Monday, but as they attempted to navigate through the thick bush, they were unable to do so,” Mdhluli said.
After spending the night stranded, the occupants signaled for help and were rescued. All are reported to be in good condition.
