Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, a year before his contract was due to expire. The 33-year-old Egyptian forward scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the Reds, winning eight trophies including two Premier League titles and a Champions League.
Salah’s departure comes after a dip in form and public clashes with manager Arne Slot. In a farewell message, he thanked fans, calling Liverpool “not just a football club. It’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit.”
Liverpool described Salah as “one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history” and said his legacy will be celebrated later this year. No details have been announced about his next club.
Liverpool’s final Premier League game is on May 24 against Brentford, with the Champions League final the following weekend in Budapest.
