Moses Mabhida stadium pitch closed until end of April for rehabilitation

The eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality has announced that the pitch at Moses Mabhida Stadium will remain closed until the end of April to allow for essential rehabilitation work.

In a statement on Wednesday, the City said the closure is necessary to carry out critical maintenance aimed at restoring the playing surface to optimal condition. The rehabilitation programme is intended to ensure the pitch meets required standards ahead of fixtures scheduled for May.

The municipality emphasized that the closure only affects the playing surface. All other stadium operations—including retail outlets, visitor facilities, and standard opening hours—will continue as usual.

“This work forms part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining Moses Mabhida Stadium as a world-class venue for sport and events,” the City said, thanking the public for their understanding and cooperation during the maintenance period.
