The Ndimande brothers, accused of murdering rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motshoane, have informed the Durban Magistrate’s Court that they intend to apply for bail.
Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande are accused of being involved in the fatal shooting of Forbes and Motshoane on 10 February 2023 outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. The two men were shot at close range in what authorities described as a coordinated hit. Both victims died at the scene after gunmen allegedly approached and opened fire before fleeing.
The brothers were arrested in February 2024 during a breakthrough in the high-profile investigation. Although they had earlier indicated they would not seek bail, they made a dramatic U-turn during their latest court appearance.
Their lawyer also told the court he plans to apply for their transfer to Westville Prison from Bongweni Super Max Correctional Facility, where they are currently being held.
The matter has been postponed to 10 April for a formal bail application.
