Enyobeni tarven owners back in court for the death of 21 teenagers

The trial of the Enyobeni tarven owners is expected to resume today at the East London Magistrate court.

Siyakhanga and Vuyokazi Ndevu are facing a string of charges including trading illegally and selling alcohol to underage persons. This is after 21 patrons were mysteriously killed in June last year.

According to a former employee, turned into a witness, a crowd of teenagers forced their way into the tavern causing a stamped. Meanwhile, the tragic survivors of that fateful night claim that patrons fell on the floor because they were suffocating from an unknown substance.

The Eastern Cape Liquor board said they had given a license for a previously erected structure not the cramped double storey that was discovered at the scene.

The inquest to determine the liability of the death of their children will be starting from the 30th of August.
