Another cop gunned down in Eastern Cape
Three suspects are expected to appear before the Tsolo Magistrate Court on Friday in connection with the murder of a Mthatha Stock Theft Unit member, Sergeant Obey Sotoyi.
According to Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, the suspects were arrested on Thursday by members of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team, supported by the Tactical Response Team and the Local Record Centre.
“The were arrested on the R-61 towards Ngcobo, following a tip off. One of the suspects fled from the vehicle but was chased down and arrested.
“Sotoyi was killed on 5 August in Langeni Township in the Tsolo Area.
“Sergeant Sotyoyi’s stolen firearm was found in their possession, while a second firearm, a 9mm Vector pistol, and 11 rounds of ammunition,” said Mhlakuvana
