Bodies of suspected illegal miners to be identified by Lesotho families
Families, including those from Lesotho, are expected to arrive in South Africa to identify the 20 bodies that were discovered wrapped in grain bags last week at an abandoned mine shaft in Orkney, Klerksdorp. The deceased’s are believed to have been mining illegally.
The families will be joined by North West Premier, Job Mokgoro. Before meeting with the Lesotho families, Premier Mokgoro is expected to engage with Lesotho’s Consul General, Selimo Thabane at the Matlosana Local Municipality Chambers.
The government officials are expected to meet with the families at a government mortuary for identification.
