Couple that forced a 12 year old to eat faeces will apply for bail
A couple from Komani has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old boy and forcing him to eat his faeces.
39-year-old Asanda Mkoko and the 28-year-old Ayabulela Yolanda Buso appeared before court on Wednesday following their arrest after the weekend incident when the boy, who was playing with friends, relieved himself at their gate.
The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Anelisa Ngckanaki, says they were arrested in Nkululekweni Township after community members called the police.
She says it is alleged that while the child was relieving himself the couple approached him and assaulted him with a broom. As the child apologised the two allegedly told the boy that they would never accept his apology unless he ate his faeces.
It is alleged that they then forced the boy to eat it and released him afterwards.
The couple will remain in custody until the 15th of June when they will apply for bail which the State will oppose.
