Eastern Cape leading with highest number of vaccinated people
Health Minister Joseph Phaahla says the Eastern Cape is leading with the highest number of its population vaccinated, with more than 23% of its population jabbed, followed by Limpopo with 20.8% of its population now inoculated. The minister said while there’d been a 7% decrease in the number of active COVID-19 cases and a 4% decline in South Africa’s hospitalisation rate, we still had a long way to go to end the third wave. Phaahla also liked the third wave of infections to rely on race” When infections in a certain province go down, infections in another go up,” said Phaahla.
The minister also touched on the topic of relaxing lockdown relations,”This is no time to relax the restrictions, therefore as the Department of Health, we will in no way be recommending to the National Coronavirus Command Council or Cabinet for a relaxation of the restrictions at this stage,” said the minister.
