Eskom to implement stage four to rescue its emergency reserves

Struggling power utility, Eskom says load shedding has been reduced to stage three from Monday morning until 4PM in the afternoon before the rolling power cuts are ramped up to stage four.

“In order to manage emergency reserves, Stage 4 loadshedding will remain in force until 05:00 on Monday. Thereafter, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00, followed by Stage 4 loadshedding until 05:00 on Tuesday. This pattern of Stage 3 loadshedding in the morning and Stage 4 loadshedding in the evening will be repeated daily until Friday at 16:00. Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur. Unplanned outages are at 12 648MW and planned maintenance is at 6 814MW of generation capacity, said spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.
