Heavy rains a life threat on the Eastern Cape roads

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has implemented a Level 5 snow warning across certain locations in the Eastern Cape; these include the Barkly East, Elundini, Matatiele and Elliot.

SAWS warned that this snowfall could be significant and possibly life-threatening. Motorists are hereby warned to take note of the following report:

The Barkly Pass along the R58 between Elliot and Barkly East is driveable at the moment. Motorists are advised to drive with extra caution as the road surface is wet and slippery.

The Penhoek pass along the N6 between Queenstown and Aliwal North is open. Motorists are warned to drive with extra caution.
