High Court to hear Zuma’s application for case postponement virtually

The National Prosecuting Authority Spokesperson Advocate Mthunzi Mhaga has confirmed that former president Zuma is anticipated to submit an application to have his case adjourned due to his stay in hospital.

I can confirm that during a virtual hearing the legal team of Mr Zuma will be making a substantive application for a postponement of the matter because he is indisposed and has been admitted to hospital. However, as the Prosecution, we were ready to argue the special plea but these are circumstances beyond our control,’ said Mhaga.

Zuma is currently serving his 15- month jail term in Estcourt Prison, Durban. He was admitted to the military hospital on Friday. The Pietermaritzburg High Court was initially set down to hear Zuma’s application for the recusal of prosecutor Billy Downer.

An application the NPA intended to oppose.
