Mabuyane opens crimen injuria case against AbaThembu King
Eastern Cape police have confirmed that Premier Oscar Mabuyane has filed a crimen injuria case against AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo.
Mabuyane alleges that Dalindyebo made defamatory comments, suggesting that Mabuyane benefited from protection fee activities.
The remarks were made by Dalindyebo three weeks ago while addressing residents in Mthatha West, following the closure of a local school due to alleged extortion demands.
Police spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa says, “The police can confirm that the Premier of the Eastern Cape opened a crimen injuria case at Bhisho Police Station. In a separate incident, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety in the Eastern Cape also filed a crimen injuria case at the Cambridge Police Station on Monday. There have been no arrests in either case so far, and investigations are ongoing.”
