Man who died in a notorious PSJ cliff identified

The Eastern Cape Department of Health has confirmed that a man who died last Saturday in Port St Johns cliff was a Community Services Male Nurse (conserve nurse) from St Elizabeth Hospital in Lusikisiki. Zukisa Nkosiyaphantsi (32) was with four other friends taking photos when he allegedly got into the car, started it and drove the vehicle career off the Air Strip cliff. It was not clear what prompted the man to do so as the police were still investigating the matter. The incident was the second one to occur as last year the couple in their vehicle was found in this cliff. According to the police spokesperson Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, it took several hours to search to retrieve the body Nkosiyaphantsi because of the density and steepness of the cliff.

Meanwhile, the death of Zukisa brought to four the number of nurses who tragically lost their lives within the month of September, with three having been brutally murdered. MEC Nomakhosazana Meth sent her deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. “This is devastating news. My deepest sympathy goes to the family. We are saddened by the deaths of our frontline healthcare workers during a time when we need them the most, as we are faced with a deadly pandemic,” said Meth.
