Matatiele Mourns Loss of Economic Freedom Fighters PR Councillor
The Matatiele Local Municipality is grieving the loss of one of its own, Councillor Tshepiso Nketlana, who represented the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. Councillor Nketlana passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service. She was 43 years old.
In an official statement, Municipality Spokesperson Luncedo Walaza expressed condolences on behalf of the Municipality and the people of Matatiele. Mayor Councillor Sonwabile Mngenela paid tribute to Councillor Nketlana, describing her as a humble, dedicated leader who tirelessly worked towards improving the lives of Matatiele residents. Her commitment to accountability, quality service delivery, and clean governance earned her respect across all socio-economic and political divides.
Councillor Nonzwakazi Ngwanya, the Speaker of Council, urged fellow councillors to emulate Councillor Nketlana’s exemplary leadership. She emphasized the profound impact Councillor Nketlana had on the Municipality, noting her unwavering dedication to serving the community.
Councillor Nketlana served as a member of the Matatiele Local Municipality Council, where she made significant contributions to the Infrastructure Planning and Development Standing Committees. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, colleagues, and constituents. The Municipality extends heartfelt condolences to her mother, three children, six siblings, and all who knew and admired her.
The funeral service for Councillor Nketlana will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Mehloloaneng village. Details regarding the memorial service will be announced at a later date. May her soul rest in peace as her memory continues to inspire and guide those she leaves behind.
