Stake holders vow to protect sweet Matat from violent riots
Matatiele Business Chamber, SAPS and Prestige Security have rest assured their citizens that violent riots happening in some parts of the country will not spread into town.
The looting violent riots that have been displayed on all media platforms have left citizens struggling for a mere loaf of bread. Long queues were seen visible in some parts of the country, with people queuing to get basic needs.
Supply companies have halted their business, following a number of trucks torched causing shortages in the food industries.
One of the biggest retail stores in Matatiele was seen with empty shelves. While many are in food panic mode because of the lootings happening, Matatiele businesses said they are unified in their stance that they will not allow any of the perpetrators to commit their criminal activities in town.
The chamber further emphasized that taxi associations on boards ”The taxi associations are adamant about this as well and are thankfully on hand to assist businesses to deal with any vandalism or looting.”
The chamber pleaded with social media users to refrain from disseminating unverified information. “Please remain calm and refrain from sending misinformed messages on social media.”
