MEC FUNDILE GADE TO SEND A RURAL GIRL TO NAIROB- KENYA FOR 2021 WORLD ATHLETICS
The Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC, Fundile Gade in collaboration with Jenn, ELCB Information Services and Xhorha Constituency Office will on Thursday join a send-off function for Ms Aviwe Hoboloshe, who is a leaner at Gwebityala Senior Secondary School in Amathole East ,Elliotdale.
The 17-year-old girl will represent South Africa in the 2021 World Athletics for under 20 champions in Nairob, Kenya from the 17 to 22 August 2021. Hoboloshe is a member of the Elliotdale Athletics Club that is based in impoverished villages of Xhorha area.
According to the department, Hoboloshe’s moment comes perfectly when the country is celebrating Women’s Month. The MEC has in the past argued Women to fight unendingly for their affirmation in the society. “I still believe that women need to be unapologetic for their existence and they need to fight consistently for their rightful space in all positions that are available in this country, including sport and all other known male dominated sectors,” said Gade.
