Netball President saddened by passing of EC netball players
Netball South African President Cecilia Molokwane says they are deeply saddened by the passing of four Eastern Cape people who were on their way to Cape Town for the 2021 SPAR National Netball Championships.
Three players and an official were killed in the early hours of Sunday morning when the bus in which two teams were travelling was involved in a head-on collision with another bus on the R61 near Aberdeen, in the Eastern Cape,
Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the bus from Mthatha overturned, and four women were declared dead at the scene.
28 people were injured, five of them critically, and they were taken to the Midlands Provincial hospital in Aberdeen.
