President Cyril Ramaphosa launches Border Mannagement Authority
The Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi together with President Cyril Ramaphosa will launch the Border Management Authority(BMA) on Thursday at Beithbridge, a border post between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Motsoaledi says more than 140 stolen vehicles have been recovered in neighbouring countries since last year.
Motsoaledi says, “The border guards have intercepted 141 cars that were stolen and were about to cross the border into the neighbouring countries. Considering that they are only 200, we are satisfied that they are working very well. We will be introducing another cohort of 400 border guards, so we are no longer going to have 200, we will have 600, of course is still a small number.”
The purpose of establishing the BMA means that South Africa has an integrated border management platform, with a single command and control.
