Public Minister to address ANC NEC over state of SOEs

Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan is expected to brief the African National Congress'(ANC) national executive committee (NEC) on Monday regarding the state of the country’s state-owned entities.

ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula told journalists that Gordhan would pitch up to give an update on the SOEs.

Mbalula said the resignation of Eskom board chair Mpho Makwana’s came at a time when they believed there was some sort of stability at the power producer. It is alleged that Makwana’s resignation was due to differences with Gordhan over the appointment of a CEO.

“It has actually plunged us into a crisis of self-defense every day – load shedding, mismanagement, running down the entity,” said Mbalula.

Eskom has been without a Chief Executive for seven months now.

Gordhan is accused of attempting to sell state entities to private businesses.
