Three initiates shot dead in Ngqamakhwe
Three initiates in Ngqamakhwe, in the Eastern Cape have been shot dead. The incident is reported to have occurred in the early hours of the morning.
Spokesperson of the Health department Sizwe Kupelo said ‘ The department can confirm a shooting incident that has left three initiates dead at an initiation school in Ngqamakwe. Circumstances surrounding the incident are not known. The police are to investigate. ”
Kupelo said the deceased were aged 19, 20, and 22 and their names have not been released yet.
He said the department has dispatched medical officers to the scene, while forensic investigators have removed the bodies for further investigation.
Cogta spokesperson Mamnkeli Ngam confirmed the incident and that the department working with the SAPS is collecting all information before further information can be disclosed in the media.
“What has happened is a very serious concern to the department, however, we are still in the process of gathering all the relevant information and facts surrounding this unfortunate incident, ” said Ngam.
