Trevor Noah’s Daily Show bags Emmy for best variety talk series
Trevor Noah has scooped an Emmy for his Outstanding Talk Series popular television show’ The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’ last night in Los Angelos, California ,marking the show’s first victory in the category since the departure of former host Jon Stewart in 2015.
Noah made sure to shout out former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart as he accepted the award for Outstanding Talk Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night. “Hey, Jon Stewart, wherever you are my friend, thank you for calling me up. Thank you for asking me to come and join you on this crazy journey,” the 39-year-old Noah said.
The host also thanked the members of The Daily Show’s team:
“I want to start by thanking the crazy Africans who followed me to this country, David Kibuuka and Joseph Opio, David Meyer, my partner in crime, the writers and the team, Roy Wood Jr. from the very beginning, Jordan Klepper, whose flight got cancelled.”
Noah left The Daily Show in 2022, with his final episode airing on 8 December of that year. The 2023 Emmy Awards were delayed till this year due to the Hollywood strikes.
The Daily Show beat the likes of The Late Show With Steven Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Problem With Jon Stewart and Late Night With Seth Meyers.
